Military History from a whole new perspective
Battle Guide Virtual Tours was born from a collaboration between historians and battlefield guides across the globe who have a passion for military history and a joint desire to share that knowledge and enthusiasm with a worldwide audience. Traditionally the experience of visiting battlefields has been one which has not been available to all. A great number of limitations, be they geographical, occupational or financial have always existed, and for that reason, many people find themselves unable to make a journey to physically visit a historic site (a journey we would certainly recommend).

A Day that Shaped Nations - Gallipoli: Anzac Landing (WW1 Documentary)
Gallipoli: Anzac, The Landing
Shortly after dawn on the 25 April 1915, off the coast of Gallipoli, the gentle splash of oars could be heard as thousands of Australian troops made their way towards the shore. Waiting silently on the cliffs and ridges above were Ottoman riflemen poised to defend their homelands at all costs. Within moments, gunfire erupted, signalling the start of a brutal fight which would last for eight long months and cost thousands of lives. Whilst remarkable acts of courage were displayed and hardships endured, Gallipoli ultimately ended in Allied defeat, an Ottoman victory. This video is the first in an exciting news series in partnership with the Gallipoli Association. It will tell the story of that very first day when the Anzacs came to Gaba Tepe.

Excellent video and narration of an horrific event.😢
How lovely these fields look right now..🥺😢
Another of the saddest losses of WWII. Bless them, may they rest in peace. They didn't deserve this.❤
Man never learn from past history. The German people were brain washed with non stop propaganda/lies to push certain peoples agendas. Like our schools, so called news and social media are doing today to our youth and gullible adults. Just look at the political and big pharma lies and manipulation regarding COVID and how they had the world cowering in their homes even after they knew it was as serious as first thought. Wake up people.
Ulster one of the best fighting people ever, even in America they were the hill billys nobody mest with them they were known as the scots irish
You thought you were clever by pronouncing "Foy" as "Fwha," as if it was spelled "Foi" hahaha. Sounds pretty dumb lol. It actually sounds closer to how they pronounced it in the movie than your pronunciation.
I've watched this movie several times Never got old will watch it many more times. God willing ❤
Never just gets to the point of the video
How do you mean?
I actually got to go inside the Reichstag. I was servingbin the British Army at the time and went to Berlin to spend a few weeks with the Welsh Guards. I was serving in the Irish Guards at the time. This was 1976/77. We went across the border through check point charlie and had a walk around. Paid visit to the museum. We eventually went to the German parliament. Cant remember if its in the east or the west lol. But I remember I was really exited to get to visit it. As a boy I was interested in the history of WW2 and I had seen the building many times in documentaries, but never thought I'd ever see myself actually inside it. Great memories for me.
Such a shameful pity that the old world was blown to bits. Horrible.
A fantastic documentary, thank you. I visited Gallipoli and when you’re there you really appreciate how steep the hills are - advancing up them under fire would surely have seemed an impossible task. My great great uncle also lies at Ari Burnu cemetery, having died of wounds 11 Dec 1915. Lest we forget.
There have been similar boys in Indian & Israeli armies
What is additionally horrible is that the town had done nothing in the way of an ambush or sabotage. It was just an easy target for an SS unit to make an example but given the breakdown of communications in the war compared to today, only the French Resistance heard of this massacre. Makes me want to shove this into the face of all the members of the Canadian Parliament who gave two standing ovations to a Ukrainian member of Waffen-SS Galicia Division.
This is why I`ll never understand how some people can be neo-Nazis today. I`m sure they don`t realise what Nazism stands for that goes way further than anti Semitism.
National Socialists are as National Socialists do.
The real Nazis are the ones currently going around labeling others as such while attacking and trying to stop Jews from getting on with their life
Great history video.
Here here brilliant I totally agree with you
Hey boys after a long sea journey just rock up climb decent ranges and then start fighting cheers
Also, the generals had a 18th and 19th century worldview of how to wage war having troops to move in line when going out of the trenches, but the machinery (machine guns like the vickers or maxim) had surpassed the tactics what made that troops in some cases would be wiped out in minutes as in the Battle of the Somme where 60.000 soldiers got wounded or killed within a day, what made it the worst day in British military history.
My father was in the wiltshire regt and was wounded by a mortar attack after he and his men had made their way back to a field HQ He was shipped out just before the main evacuation once recovered he ended up in Burma
Sensacional!
Troops were completely segregated. Please don’t imply anything different.
= All heros. Rip brothers
The metaphor implies there's a simple and fool proof solution that will work in all situations, when that's not the case. The idea is true, and I have a tiny bit of sympathy with general etc at that time because they're dealing with something completely new and completely untested. Not sure at what point you turn round and say "look this isn't working". Very tricky with over 100 years of hindsight
It was a response to the resistance ambushing and burning alive of their general!!! But the German high command ordered his arrest and court marshal for the crimes but he died days later in the invasion
No general burned alive here. The officer supposed burned alive was Helmut Kampfe, a Waffen-SS Sturmbannführer, who was captured by the local Maquis, and executed during an escape attempt. His body was burned after. He was buried in a temporary cemetary, and his remains were buried later in 1963 in the German military cemetery of Berneuil, in Charente-Maritime.

Live is very short song by the Beatles
My gran lost her uncle at passchendale his body has never been found RIP to all the brave men who fought for freedom
I suggest you actually study the Somme attack rather than repeat the common and inaccurate understanding of the battle.
Hi Freddie, this is, of course a snippet of a much more in-depth discussion covering the topic in detail, do feel free to check out the podcast, you might enjoy it :)
Superb m8
Thanks so much for this excellent video. My great uncle Charlie was among those 3rd Bde diggers ashore in the early hours of the 25th April, a member of 10th Battalion. To see so many names that he would have fought with has been quite surreal, in a very good way. Very much appreciated 🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it
